Big Smile, New Homeowner!
Natosha DeHorney and her three children enjoyed Christmas in their new home after a whirlwind of a build. More than 250 volunteers contributed about 3000 hours to complete the DeHorneys' home in a record seven weeks. Now enjoy a holiday break, y'all.
Trailblazer Employees in Their Habitat Debut
In neon knock-your-socks-off yellow t-shirts, employees from Trailblazer Health Enterprises descended onto the Habitat worksite early Saturday morning to work on the Bond Street house. Just a few hours later, the insulation was complete with a grade of A+ from the weatherization inspector, and the team was blazing on to the next project—drywall. Thanks, Trailblazer! We will remember your good work, your lunch and snacks for all, and those eye-blasting shirts.
Blessings from Knight Family Chiropractic
Ryan and Amy Knight from Knight Family Chiropractic presented funds in the amount of $730.98 to Habitat for Humanity to be used toward House #24, starting in Denison soon. Patients from the clinic donated funds all summer long to assist in the building of the DeHorney family's home. Many thanks to a generous, community-minded family and business!
Here today...gone tomorrow
These were only some of the volunteers who braved 105 degree heat to help deconstruct this house. Stove, cabinets, flooring, lighting, bath fixtures, windows, doors, and more will all be sold at the fall warehouse sale.

Best.Score.Ever
We were delighted to receive the news from rater Mark Bullard that House #23 earned an outstanding score on the Energy Star rating system. As in golf, the lower the score, the better. This house earned a score of 64--a full 21
points better than was needed to earn Energy Star status. You could almost say we got a hole-in-one!

Greater Texoma Association of Realtors is another faithful group of volunteers. They posed in their best paint clothes alongside homeowner Michael Hall.
Women Build Redux
For the third year, Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s have teamed up for Women Build Week, celebrated during the week leading up to Mother’s Day. This year, not one but two groups of women—more than 30 in all—used hammers, saws, and drills to put up sheetrock in the Halls’ house. As evidenced by the amount of gypsum dust in the air, the favorite tool was surely the Roto-zip.
In support of this effort, Lowe’s will donate a generous gift card of $5,000 toward funding our next house. Yay, Lowe’s! (More pictures in Photo Album)
Welcome, Hall Family!
We welcome the Hall family as homeowners-to-be for House #23. Michael, Jessica, Presley (age 3), and Brooklyn (age 2) look forward to living in a house with low utility bills and plenty of room for the back yard swings and trampoline. You should see these girls jump!
American Bank of Texas Makes $7,000 Grant Possible
Jerry Griffin of American Bank of Texas presented a check for $7,000 to Director Laurie Mealy. ABT, a member of Federal Home Loan Bank, applied for a HELP grant on Habitat's behalf. We are grateful for their great HELP to us.
Texas Instruments Build From the Ground Up
Some volunteers can put up a building in a single day! This crew from Texas Instruments completed the backyard storage building in just a few hours
Fifth Year for Sherman Bible Youth
The students may come and go, but the group keeps coming. The youth from Sherman Bible Church gave up a day of their spring break for the 5th year in a row. Thanks to the youth, the warehouse is more "shop ready" for another big sale on Saturday, April 2.
Habi-taters Potato Bar
What is our favorite kind of 'taters? Habi-taters! About 150 people joined us recently for a delightful evening of baked potatoes with fixings, piano music provided by local musicians Dr. John McGinn and Lucinda Laro, and plenty of conversation. Click here to see more pictures of the evening.
Just in Time for Christmas
Angela, Chase, and Chante have a home of their own for Christmas. Complete with a Scout troop to post the colors, an ensemble from Sherman High School to play holiday music, and a Sunday school class to bring a wreath for the front door and gifts for the home, the dedication was a celebration of several months of work by Habitat donors and volunteers. Happy holidays, everyone!
Five Houses for Bucyrus
Volunteer crews from Bucyrus have donated at least a day's work on five Habitat houses in the last two years. Thanks, Bucyrus!
Ribbon Cutting the Habitat Way
Judge Horace Groff made quick work of cutting the 2'X 4' to celebrate the opening of Habitat's new tool trailer, purchased thanks to a generous grant from Elias and Hanna Regensburger Foundation. After years of transporting supplies in cars, pickups, vans, and open trailers, the construction crew has a beautiful, well-organized home for the affiliate's tools. No fingerprints, please!
The Square Foot Club
The Square Foot Club is a fun and easy way to get your friends, neighbors, family members, Sunday school class, sports team, hobby group, club members and even your office buddies involved in the effort to eliminate poverty housing through Habitat for Humanity - all for just pennies a day. Park Avenue Shares Blessings
A heartfelt thank you goes to Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison for their donation of $2,500 made as part of their fifth Sunday offering. The offering will build almost 55 square feet of House #22--half a bedroom!

What do Women Do? Women BUILD!
Take 20 area women, a handful of great crew chiefs, a few Habitat homeowners and applicants, some great weather, and an Olympic athlete, and what do you get? This year’s Women Build! Women across the country devoted time during the first week of May to build Habitat houses, and we were delighted to be part of the effort.
US Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, along with her buddy Liz, mother Anna, and grandfather Vladimir, were our special guests, spending the day putting up siding at House #21 on Brents in Sherman. Lowe’s is providing a generous $5,000 grant to help fund our next house in support of the one-day Women Build. We can’t wait for next year!
